Travertine is formed in either hot springs or limestone caves. Ancient structures, such as fountains and coliseums were built out of travertine centuries ago and still exist today. Marble is one of the oldest stones available. Marble's popularity began in ancient Rome and Greece, where marble was used to construct a variety of structures. Limestone is mostly formed in warm, clear for construction purposes from thousands and thousands of years ago. The key characteristics of Travertine stones are the holes within the stone that are caused by carbon dioxide evasion. Marble and Limestone will have little to almost no holes. Expect variations from piece to piece. No piece will look exactly the same as the other. Make sure you look at a few pieces together to see the full variation of the natural stone. When installing make sure the installer is blending the material together and using a mixture of pallets to see the full potential of the natural stone. Travertine, Marble, and Limestone can be used for Floors, Walls, Stairs, Steps, Bathroom, Showers, Countertops, Backsplashes, Sinks, Vessels, Medallions, Fireplaces, Patio Decks, and Swimming Pools. Travertine stays cool even in hot conditions. This is important for a pool deck when you are usually barefoot.
